Gathering marked one of my earliest explorations into creating an inner glow within timber. The blackened exterior absorbs almost every trace of light, while glimpses of deep red emerge from within, suggesting warmth that survives beyond the fire itself.
Fire changes the surface of timber, yet something remains beneath. In the Australian landscape, renewal often begins long before it can be seen. This work reflects that quiet truth—that light is not always something we reflect; sometimes it is something we carry.
